For the big 4th of July weekend, we took off to the capital to hang out old friends and watch the fireworks over Town Lake - which I believe is now called Lady Bird Lake. There was dinner at Mangia's and scary moments with bees and other winged creatures.
Nicholas and I stayed at a hotel by the lake and we brought Wilson with us. He's a pretty good traveler and got to meet a couple of other doggies at the hotel.
I really enjoyed the view in the morning and then getting to finally watch the bats come out of the Congress Street bridge when the sun went down.
And there was the awesome fireworks show over the lake.
Friends in Austin threw an enblingment party for our friend, the newly off the market, Miss SuziFoo. Since both Miss Foo and I were blinging, we got to wear the sexy feather boas! Everyone wore tiaras, drank delicious mimosas before noon, wiggled our butts with the wii, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Yes, i'm wearing a t-shirt. With another shirt underneath. I was completely unprepared for the arctic conditions in Austin. Seeing as how H-town was in the mid 70's, I had little reason to believe it would be cold anywhere within driving distance. I should probably check the weather channel more. :-)
Saturday morning we got up, packed, and took Mashimaro on his first road trip. We drove out to Austin to do a little shopping and then made our way to Round Rock to visit my good friend Nick.
On the way, we took many shots of the beautiful landscape. And of course, Munkie tagged along :-)
This jeep was in the parking lot of Magnolias on South Congress this weekend. My friends and I stopped by for a late breakfast after shopping in the farmers market downtown. I had no idea there was a farmers market downtown!! 10 years and 2 summers in that town and no one tells me about this shopping experience where they have things like flan pasteries and fig jam!
This weekend was Nakia'sCD Release (& Birthday) Party at Lamberts in Austin. I got to hang out with friends I hadn't seen in a long time while I was there.
The drive down was beautiful. I timed it perfectly so that I would get the maximum 'sun on horizon while traveling due west' exposure as possible. I arrived tanned and with extra strong squinty eye muscles.
If you haven't heard Nakia's music, go listen to the songs he has online. He's quite talented and is a sweetheart to boot! AAAAnd, today's his birthday!
