Friends in Austin threw an enblingment party for our friend, the newly off the market, Miss SuziFoo. Since both Miss Foo and I were blinging, we got to wear the sexy feather boas! Everyone wore tiaras, drank delicious mimosas before noon, wiggled our butts with the wii, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Yes, i'm wearing a t-shirt. With another shirt underneath. I was completely unprepared for the arctic conditions in Austin. Seeing as how H-town was in the mid 70's, I had little reason to believe it would be cold anywhere within driving distance. I should probably check the weather channel more.
Peanut got a hot new ringer t-shirt at the after Christmas sale..
I think he's going to need his own drawer in the dresser pretty soon

Mom and the Little Sis came to town to drop off some of mom's homemade eggrolls (only the best kind of eggrolls in the whole world) and I drove them around for some extra special shopping fun. And we went to my favorite restaurant, Hue and tried out the Lee's Sandwhich shop. Both turned out to be excellent choices.
With my sister's BigDay coming up, we were looking for accessories to help make her Tiffany Blue themed moment a reality. We couldn't find everything - she admitted she was asking for the impossible - but 15 gallons of gas later...we did find four pairs of shoes, my maid of honor dress, material for vietnamese dresses, and my mom got herself a jade bracelet and a bag of kumquats.
Yeah, I've had enough shopping for a while

While in Galveston last weekend, I found a little rock that totally resembled a cartoon baby skull head. That's Nicholas' well manicured fingers holding said baby skull head rock. It's now part of my permanent awesome-rock collection, which has rocks from all over - though none of those other rocks have faces. I could stick him with my collection of skulls, but admitting that I have such a collection* would be a little creepy.
Baby Skull head got featured as Little Skully today in the
Faces in Places blog!
*My collection of skeletons/skulls are of the cute variety. No beings were harmed in the makings of such things.
My birthday weekend started out with a bon voyage party for my friend Joan and her new husband Ron on Friday. They were married earlier at a ceremony in her hometown. The party was in Austin so we were looking forward to seeing her and my Austin friends.
Saturday and Sunday we spent with Jenny & CJ in San Marcos with a side trip to San Antonio. Of course, one of the best parts of the trip was meeting Miss Chicken Nugget!
Chicken Nugget is a fashion model and beloved pet chicken of CJ's.
Here she is in the sombrero we picked up for her in San Antonio!
And Mr. Darcy had to have his picture taken with it, too!
Our first trip of the year was to Galveston. It was warm enough to go walk long the seawall and we had not been down since the
sandcastle competition in May. The fog was surprisingly thick as we turned on to the seawall and it stayed thick pretty much the whole day!
This is what's left of Murdoch's Bath House on the seawall four months after Ike. The fog made it just a little creepy. The bench in the picture probably came from the Hooters that used to be next door.
Nicholas got a picture with what was left of the building. I like how this one turned out.
There were two cruise ships docked this evening. We watched from the Starbucks across the street as the traffic started piling up for people share a tale, a tale of a fateful trip about to start from this tropic port, aboard these ginormous ships.
Whew... 2009 is finally here! Here is Vivi.. cautious of what the new year brings. Hopefully more birds on the patio, is what he's thinking, hee hee!
We spent the new years with friends playing games (two which i won, one which i did not) and enjoying some delicious chili!
